I just returned from Kenya. In Kenya, the idea that you work at your job, and you live only on income from that, is not the norm. Everyone has at least 1 side job, called a side husstle., or even more than 1. When I first moved to Kenya, I found it strange to have a full-time job and then have a business on the side. But I see now, this is the smart way to go.In Canada and the US, gone are the days where your one job will cover what you need for living and retirement. I’ve come to embrace the idea of the “side hustle”It doesn’t mean we have to quit our jobs, but let’s also get our hard-earned money to work for us in other ways.You’ve probably seen me speaking about my investment journey in RE. And yet people keep asking me, “Are you still working?” and the answer is Yes – I am also working on my job in East Africa. MF is my chosen way to multiply the value of the money earned from my job. Social purpose real estate has typically included developments built by non-profit organizations or government agencies, with the goal of promoting social or affordable housing. But can for-profit developers be involved in social purpose real estate? And if so what are the models that we know work?

Love him or hate him, Kevin O’Leary points out the stark reality of commercial real estate, and especially office buildings. Many of these structures are no longer economically viable, especially with older buildings, high vacancy as people don’t return to offices, as well as rising interest rates. Yet he rightly suggests me need to repurpose these buildings. However as challenging as this might be, we need to figure out how best to do this. How to do this viably? And what to repurpose them into, as storage solutions or affordable housing, or higher-end housing?
